With more than 80% of the population living within 50 kms of the coast, you’ll discover a love for sun and surf, a relaxed way of life, unique environment, and adventures among reefs, islands, wilderness and wildlife.

Welcome to Australia!

Australia’s marine environment is home to 4,000 fish species, 500 coral species (in the northern reefs alone), 50 types of marine mammal, seabirds, rare sea dragons and whales, dolphins, dugongs, turtles, giant rays and whale sharks. There are 10,700 beaches along almost 50,000kms of the most diverse unspoilt coastline in the world.

The warm, crystal clear waters of the north sustain two of the world’s great coral reefs. The Great Barrier Reef, one of the world’s modern wonders and Ningaloo Reef on Australia’s Coral Coast in the west.

Experience the remote Kimberley in Western Australia, one of the world’s last great wildernesses, covering 420,000 sq kms; Sydney Harbour, renowned worldwide as one of the world’s most beautiful harbours; Seal Rocks, off Phillip island, home to 12,000 native seals; Coober Pedy in South Australia, the opal capital of the world. Australia produces 95 per cent of the world’s precious opals and 99 per cent of its black opals.

Take a wildlife cruise through Kakadu in the Northern Territory, or a wilderness cruise on Tasmania’s mighty Gordon River into the island’s world-famous World Heritage Area, or go deep sea game fishing off the Queensland coast.

Travel back 50,000 years to the world’s most ancient living culture, Australia’s indigenous people. Aboriginal Australia is a living legacy of spiritual knowledge, culture, people, rituals, art, dance, music and journeys into the mysteries known as Dreamtime. Australia’s Indigenous art is celebrated in Art Galleries from New York to London.

Australia has more than 60 official wine regions where more than 90 grape varieties are grown; among the best known are Margaret River in Western Australia, the Barossa and Clare Valleys in South Australia, the Yarra Valley in Victoria and the Hunter Valley in New South Wales. The best of Australian wine can be found in the world’s finest restaurants.

One of the most exciting destinations for ‘foodies’ in the world because of its culinary innovation and high-quality produce, Australian chefs incorporate Indigenous Australian wild foods such as bunya nuts, Kakadu plums, warrigal greens, lemon aspen and myrtle, wattle seed, native mint, wild limes, native rosella, bush tomatoes and muntari berries with specialty meats such as crocodile, Northern Territory buffalo and kangaroo, plus a tempting array of fresh seafood including prawns, rock oysters, mud crabs, lobster, Tasmanian salmon and barramundi.

Australia produces some of the world’s premium beef, lamb, tuna and gourmet produce including cheese, truffles, saffron, scallops and coffee.
