Chairman
David McQueen

David McQueen is currently managing director of Azzura Marine and has been working in the marine industry for over 32 years. David brings considerable experience of boat building and management to the Superyacht Australia Board.

His career started in the United Kingdom as an apprentice wooden boat builder and his first job was to help with the construction of a wooden high speed motor yacht designed by Don Shed for the Arga Khan. This vessel (which is still operational) broke various boundaries of construction and speed, including it's lightweight F-board floating interior which gave comfort when the vessel was performing at 50 knots.

During his career David has gained many years experience in all facets of the superyacht industry from companies like Souters in the UK, Oceanfast where he was General Manager for over 10  years and to currently running Azzura Marine as Managing Director.

His experiences include the construction of over 30 motor and sailing yachts including the internationally renowned "Thunder" at 50m which is designed by the late Jon Bannenberg, "Perfect Perception" at 46m designed by Donald Starkey and "Aussie Rules" at 70m designed by Sam Sorgiovanni.

Azzura Marine and the Australian marine industry has established and been recognised for its contribution in "refit and repair" and was commended at the World Superyacht Awards in London in early 2010.
